We live in a noisy world. For followers of Jesus, it can be a challenge to hear his voice — the voice of the Shepherd that his sheep are supposed to be able to recognize.This podcast it is created to help us recognize the voice of God in the midst of life that is often chaotic and unsettling. In each short episode, Tracy leads listeners through the time-tested spiritual practice of lectio divina — a guided time of listening to the word of God slowly and prayerfully. If you feel your life of faith has been characterized by too much doing and very little being, of too much noise and not enough quiet, then this is the podcast for you. The word of God is our bread for life. We only need to listen.
This season of A Listening Life leads us through the season of Lent, the 40 days leading up to Easter that prepare us for the remembrance of Christ's death and resurrection. I invite you to join me in listening to passages from the Gospels that call us into direct conversation with Jesus as He walked among us on Earth. Imagine yourself in the middle of these stories, listening to Jesus, walking with Him, learning from Him. In the spirit of Lent, allow these Gospel narratives to lead you into self-examination and repentance, to help you remember Christ's crucifixion and resurrection with an open heart. In each episode, I will read a short passage three times, and after each time I will guide you into a time of silent listening for the Holy Spirit's instruction, or guidance, or encouragement.
