On Tuesday, October 28th, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica as the strongest storm in the island’s known history. Sustained 185 mph winds battered buildings where thousands of people took shelter. Storm surge has made the coastline unrecognizable. And central parts of Jamaica saw as much as 30 inches of rain.
Hurricane Infrastructure is damaged, supply lines are down, and people will need help to meet their daily needs. Power outages have rippled across the nation, and communication lines are down. Regions across the whole island have been inundated with flooding, including public infrastructure, hospitals, and shelters.
Convoy of Hope is actively responding to the historic hurricane. Convoy is working to deliver relief supplies, including food, water, baby care supplies and hygiene kits like those KLRC listeners donated during the KLRC Fall Fundraiser. Convoy of Hope will be there to meet the immediate needs of survivors of the storm, and we will be there for the long haul.
You can help provide immediate relief to those impacted by Hurricane Melissa through Convoy of Hope's Crisis Relief fund.
