In recent days, it feels like the world has been turned upside down. Events everywhere are being canceled, universities and schools are closing, and hundreds are being subjected to quarantines. In the midst of the craziness, scripture reminds us that none of this was a surprise to God:
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, “My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose.”
Isaiah 46:9-10
Despite our uncertainty, God will use the circumstances of a fallen world to showcase His sovereignty, mercy, and glory. So what is an appropriate response from the people of God? How do we discern where and how God might move and come alongside Him in His work?
I want to share with you a few of the things happening at KLRC right now in response to the Coronavirus pandemic:
1. We have made the decision to postpone the KLRC Spring Fundraiser, originally scheduled to start this Tuesday, March 17th. One of our core values at KLRC is to care for our community. We believe that in order to do that well as we walk through these unprecedented times, we need to focus 100% of our time and attention on serving you. Of course, KLRC remains a listener-supported ministry with operational expenses that need to be met. If you are led to give online during this time, we believe God will use your support in the midst of this crisis to share hope and peace in Christ with a world that desperately needs Him.
2. KLRC is committed to caring for our community by providing spiritual encouragement in the midst of this crisis. This Monday, March 16th, we will hold a special Day of Prayer. Starting at 6:30am on The KLRC Morning Show, KLRC staff and podcast hosts will be available to pray with you by phone. If you have concerns regarding this crisis, other personal needs, or just wish to seek wisdom to see how God is calling you to be part of His work in this place and time, we invite you to call in. Of course, you can also submit a prayer request or pray for others at any time using our online Prayer Center.
3. Information regarding the Coronavirus outbreak and the appropriate response is evolving on an hourly basis. You can find a list of helpful links and resources on our special Coronavirus Resources page. That page will continue to be updated over the coming days and weeks. In addition, some area churches and schools have announced closings. You can find a complete list of these announcements on our Coronavirus Closings page. If your church has announced it will be closed this weekend, we invite you to join us by listening on-air or online to Sunday Morning Worship this upcoming weekend.
As believers, we have hope in a God who is bigger than any trial, challenge, or pandemic we might face. As you pray, can I ask you to pray that God would use KLRC in a powerful way to share His hope and peace in these times of uncertainty? We also appreciate your prayers for God’s continued provision for KLRC as we postpone fundraising in order to focus on serving and loving others well.
Thank you for being part of the KLRC family!
