Dear God,
Thank you for the children you have given us. We love them so dearly, and yet we know that somehow you love them even more than we do. As you have entrusted them to us, we are now entrusting them to new teachers and new schools.
Give us happy attitudes for the early mornings ahead. As we get another day to live on this Earth for your glory. Give us hearts of gratitude. Help us to count our blessings to remind us of your goodness and fill our hearts with joy. We pray that this joy will point others to you.
Please be close to our children today Father. As they walk the halls and meet new people, give them courage in their hearts. Help them to be confident in who you have made them to be. They are fearfully and wonderfully made in your image. And because of that, they can walk in with their heads held high.
Help our children to be kind, and extend that kindness to others. Give them boldness to be leaders who do the right thing even if no one is watching, and help them to speak up and be bold when something is wrong or hurtful.
We pray that our children would grow in knowledge as they enter the classroom. Help them to learn new concepts from shapes and letters, to geometry and biology. Give them obedience to listen and obey their teachers. Help them to submit to authority just as we submit to you.
Please be with our teachers today. Give them patience as they get new routines in place and guide students into a new school year. Keep them healthy as lots of kids get together in the classroom. Give them understanding as they get to know their students and figure out the best way to help them learn. And please bless them. Bless the teachers, principals, and staff who care for and teach our children.
We pray protection over our schools. That you would watch over them closely and keep them safe.
God be close to us (the parents) as well. Take away any anxiety or worry that creeps in. That is not from you. You are a big God. You hold the whole world in your hands, yet you care to know the number of hairs on our heads. Thank you that you care so deeply about us and our children. You are a great and awesome God. And we entrust this new school year to you. We give you all the praise and honor and glory.
Amen.
