Stories From Us
She’s always been one of my favorites. The one who once forced Keri and I to learn Zumba on stage… to sharing the wisdom of coffeeshop conversations that help heal a racial divide. She always did it with a smile (and yet was honest enough to let you know life wasn’t always so easy or happy). Rest in the arms of your Overcomer Mandisa. - Mark
I remember, many years back, my family and I were at a concert where Mandisa was the opening artist. My wife and little girl wanted to meet her SO bad but weren't able to find her after her set on stage. As it goes, it so happened that my wife forgot something she needed in the car, and while she and my daughter were in the parking lot, they spotted Mandisa in the lot as well as she was about to get on her tour bus. My girls ran over to her, screaming, "Mandisa, wait! We love you!" I can only imagine the range of thoughts Mandisa must have had in that moment, but she chose to be so gracious and take time to speak with my wife and daughter, and even take pictures with them. That photo is still up, front and center, in our home. We will never forget the warmth and love Mandisa showed to us that day... not to mention all of her incredible music. Back then, I was a morning show host, and I used Mandisa's "Good Morning," to open up my show each day at 5am! Mandisa, you got there first, but we'll see you soon! - Robert
