Raising Our Hopeful Voices

It dawned on me just how meaningful this time of year is for our KLRC team. Of course, it’s not lost on me that we rely on the generosity of our community to continue on in this ministry. And, year after year, God’s provision through your generosity is astounding and deeply appreciated. We don’t take that for granted. We really don’t. In fact, it’s all truly wonderful.
In my role as a chaplain, I am an “insider” with the KLRC team as a spiritual resource. At the same time, I’m kind of an “outsider”—a spiritual witness of the KLRC team. So, I get to be a part of and witness something significant this time of year. It’s almost like our team embarks on a spiritual journey made up of intentional, important spiritual practices.
Leading up to and through the fundraiser, we pray the same prayer together. We pray individually, of course. But, in this season, we also pray the same words, a kind of “communal” prayer. We want to get on the same page by praying the same page —not just our page but (more critically!) God’s page.
For a few years now, we’ve prayed this prayer together:
God of Glory,
You are merciful and gracious.
You bend toward need.
You give abundantly.
Be who we know You to be.
Meet every need with more than enough. We trust Your proven character
To shine though the generosity of Your children!
We raise our hopeful voices—
Every song, every story, every conversation! We ask for a surprising surge of cheerful givers and provision,
An experience of community in step with Your Spirit,
A covering of protection over every detail.
Be who we know You to be.
In and for Your name—the God of glory—Amen.
Will you pray this with us and see what God does with it?
This prayer is clearly about much, much more than fundraising. It’s about the grace and mercy of God being on full display. It’s about generosity shining through His loved ones. It’s about both God and His people proving faithful yet again in providing for the work of this ministry. It’s about a community that’s united and
surrounded by the glory of God. It’s yet another opportunity for God to do incredible work in and through us.
God has provided year after year. Thanks for being part of that! And, with that, we don’t want to presume upon God or take Him for granted. This time of year, we pay special attention to prayer, to intentional day-by-day dependence on God, to story upon story of how sharing hope in Jesus makes a positive difference. May God cultivate generous hearts is us all! Join us in the journey.
