God's Love For You

Chaplain Justin here! Check out the video below that reminds us that "we love, because Jesus first loved us." That's our energy source! Apart from the ongoing experience being loved by God, we will wear ourselves out trying to love. But, filled by His love, we will have more than enough to share!

• Scripture: 1 John 4:19 and Romans 8:31-39 are great places to start!
• Next Steps: Take some time to meditate on Romans 8:31-39. Christian meditation is a prayerful, slow reflection on truth that is often repeated as a way to focus and pay special attention to what God is saying. In this case, pay special attention to God's love for you. That's it! Nothing to do for now but receive from Him and let yourself be loved by Him. Easier said than done sometimes! Here's how you might go about it:
  • Begin by taking some deep breaths. Let yourself slow down in order to listen--really listen to God's voice.
  • Start by praying "I believe; help my unbelief" from Mark 9:24 a few times slowly.
  • Let your heart lean in to listen and receive God's voice: "I love you."
  • Read Romans 8:31-39 aloud slowly. Let your heart hear God's answer to the question: "How much do you love me?" You might come back to the prayer from Mark 9:24 when you struggle to really receive His love: "I believe; help my unbelief."
  • Finally, spend time thanking Jesus for His love and at least 3 ways you see His love in your life right now. Amen.
