It's Easter week! This week is also often referred to as "Holy Week" by Christians around the world. Holy Week is the eight days from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday, a time for us to both reflect on Jesus' last days and sacrifice on the cross, and to eventually celebrate the Good News of His resurrection.
To help you during this time of reflection and celebration, KLRC is playing some brand new Easter-themed music this week! And thanks to a new feature on KLRC.com, you can take a closer look at these songs by watching music videos and reading lyrics.
Here's four new songs on KLRC this week to help prepare our hearts for Easter (click on a song title or artist name to learn more):
"I came across a clip of Alistair Begg’s sermon on social media, and he was speaking about the two men on both sides of Jesus on the cross,” Walker says about his new song. “The man on the right ends up in heaven. The angels in heaven, stunned, are asking, ‘How are you here? You weren’t a follower of Jesus. You didn’t live a life worth gaining heaven.’ And the man said, ‘I don’t know how I’m here or where I am, but the man on the middle cross said I could be here.’ This message was such a reminder that grace and mercy have nothing to do with us. There’s nothing we could do to earn it and nothing we could do to deserve it. It is only and has always only been about Jesus, who He is, what He did, and the grace that He continues to pour out, which is why I thank God for the man on the middle cross.”
“I’m thankful my mom trusted God and persevered, because of that I am alive. My parents experienced six miscarriages, and that’s why I can say confidently today that I am a ‘miracle child,’” Brandon Lake says. “I wrote this song from that place. I pray it gives you faith to know that nothing is impossible for God.” The second verse takes it to the next level, describing how Jesus shouldn't be alive either. But because He rose from the grave, He lives in us and has the power to save us.
"With this song we set out to tell the Easter story as best as we could in song," Phil Wickham says. "The story of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus is the greatest story ever told, and the best part about it is that it’s TRUE. This is hope, this is salvation, this is love, this is the Gospel. And it’s not just a story of something that happened, it’s also a story of what is still happening! Every day people all over the world are calling on the name of Jesus and stepping into the resurrection victory that Jesus won! I pray this song is used as a tool to point people’s eyes and hearts to Jesus. To move them to wonder and repentance and worship. As we near the beautiful Holy Week of Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Resurrection Sunday, may the reality and significance of it all hit you in big and profound ways. May you be reminded that Jesus is king and forever will be."
Maverick City Music has a message of hope on their latest track "Good News," featuring lead vocals from Chandler Moore and Todd Galberth. "Good News" speaks to everyone, no matter where you find yourself on your journey of faith. The song extends the simple Gospel truth that, "If you're breathing, it's for you." The song goes on to say, "If you've been searching and nothing's been working, I've got some good news: Jesus loves you." The Good News of Easter doesn't get any more straightforward or beautiful than that!
