Introducing 100.3 Real FM!

There have been some pretty momentous days in KLRC history. KLRC was first announced as a 100 watt campus radio station back in August of 1983. In the fall of 1988, KLRC truly became a community-oriented station with a power increase and a move to 101.1 FM. And in June of 2012, KLRC announced the acquisition of a new 100,000 watt signal at 90.9 FM.

Today feels like another one of those historic days! We are thrilled to announce that for the very first time, KLRC is launching an all-new radio station in Northwest Arkansas... the new 100.3 Real FM. We've been hard at work developing Real FM as an online radio station and mobile app since 2018. But now it's coming to the airwaves as the new 100.3 Real FM on Friday, April 4th, 2025.

So what is 100.3 Real FM? We like to explain our vision for Real FM using a metaphor.

Most people love chocolate ice cream, right? It's true! Surveys suggest that over 60% of Americans are big fans of the flavor. That's a lot of people! However, if 60% of people love chocolate ice cream, that means that 40% of people don't so much. And that's actually quite a few people too. It turns out that even with something the majority of people enjoy, you just can't please everyone all the time. Some people would rather have mint chocolate chip!

We are grateful that so many listeners love the music on KLRC. It's pretty broadly appealing, kind of like chocolate ice cream! But just like ice cream flavors, not every person enjoys the same types of music. That's exactly why we created 100.3 Real FM. It's like a new flavor of Christian radio!

Our mission here at KLRC is to share hope in Jesus with as many people as possible, and that means not just people who enjoy a certain musical genre. So we designed Real FM to reach a new generation of young adults and families who prefer a contemporary pop and hip-hop sound. The station features artists like Forrest Frank, NF, Elevation Rhythm, Henrik, Hulvey, Blanca, Lecrae, and more.

We are so excited to bring 100.3 Real FM to the radio, and ultimately to share the hope of Jesus with more people than ever before. We expect 100.3 FM to cover most of Benton County in NWA, Delaware County in NE Oklahoma, and McDonald County in SW Missouri. That means you'll be able to listen to 100.3 Real FM in cities like Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale, Jay, Noel, and Anderson. Check out the signal map for an approximation of 100.3 FM's coverage. Can you tell me more about the type of content I'll hear on 100.3 Real FM?

Sure thing! Real FM plays a refreshing mix of trending Christian and mainstream pop and hip-hop. Our DJ's include Brant Hansen in Mornings, Ansen in Afternoons, Isaac in Middays, and Zoe in Evenings. Some songs and conversations on Real FM are directly spiritual in nature, and others aren't, because we believe God is relevant to every aspect of our lives.

As with listener-supported KLRC, your financial support of Real FM is essential to launching and growing the ministry. We expect to incur costs of at least $550,000 to launch and operate Real FM in its first year on the air.
