Whenever I’m faced with uncertainty in life, I always get jealous of the people in the Bible that heard God’s voice audibly. I so badly want to hear the thunder crack and God’s unmistakably booming voice say: “Isaac, you need to do X and stop thinking about Y.” Sadly, though, that doesn’t happen—at least not for me. Your results may vary.
What happens for me instead is lots of prayer and reflection on what God is clear about what He wants from me, and that's something that I could always spend more time doing. Whenever I’m lost and racking my brain about a decision, I'm reminded that I’m supposed to be patient (James 1:19), thankful (Ephesians 5:4), and loving (Ephesians 4:2-3). That last part is really important, too.
And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.
1 Thessalonians 3:12
I love feeling like I’m doing something even while waiting on the bigger pieces to come together. So far, I’ve found that even when I don’t know where I’m heading, when I show love along the way I never regret it. My prayer for you is that even in life’s most challenging and confusing moments, your love for God and for others still overflows.
