Employment

I work for a company that has seasonal employment. This means that we work for a time and are laid off. This season was much shorter. So many of us were laid off early. We hear the questions. Why do you continue to work for them, why not find something that does not lay off every year, is that worth the stress? The truth is they are a good company. Many of us have found benefits here during peak season that we have not had with past companies. We have a job that helps others. It is important to us that we make a small difference in the lives of others. So if you will pray for us during this off-peak season. Money will be tighter since unemployment will run out sooner and be less with the shorter season. Jobs are hard to come by and with most employers using online hiring, it is hard to figure out what is a scam and what is real.
There were hundreds of us laid off in 3 states. We have single-income families, single parents, people with disabilities, and those who have become accustomed to working from home and will not have childcare if they work outside the home due to affordability.
We are not expecting to return to work until November. This is a long time to struggle and is very stressful.
