Mission: To continue to meet the needs of the people in this county with the continued support of volunteers.
About: Helping Hands Inc. is a non-profit organization operated as a partnership of 26 churches from through-out Benton County. Established in 1976 Helping Hands has been providing assistance to those in need for 37 years. We operate a high end thrift store which proceeds are then used to meet the needs of Benton County residents through our assistance programs. We are blessed to live in one of the most generous areas of the country and its the giving nature of the people of Northwest Arkansas that allow us to sell name brand clothing, furniture, jewelry and household items at thrift store prices. In addition we offer one of the largest food pantries in NWA providing food to more than 900 families each month.
In 2012 Helping Hands provided $2,418,000.00 in aid to the people of Benton County.
Services: At Helping Hands the primary goal is to meet the needs of Benton County residents in need. We do this by providing a variety of services. Those requesting assistance must provide a photo ID, Social Security Card, and the bill or lease with which you need help. Eligibility requirements must be addressed in person by our office staff. Monetary assistance is provided on a first come first served basis and is limited to 25 applicants each day. Some of the services offered are:
Rental Assistance
Assistance with utility bills
Help with doctor visits and limited prescriptions
Diapers and formula for babies
Food Pantry
In addition we also attempt to assist those affected by fire or other natural disasters by providing them with furniture and household items.
Volunteer Opportunities: The more volunteers we have the more effectively we are able to run our business which means greater amounts of money available to provide for this community. Helping Hands was founded by volunteers and is still supervised by a volunteer board, which consist of representatives of each of the 23 partner churches.
We are looking for men and women who can help in furniture, at the back door, book room, sales floor, fabrics and jewelry and at the register; either cashiering or packing purchases. We need volunteers for all areas of the store, and we offer low maintenance jobs for those who cant stand for long periods of time. If you would like to volunteer, we have something here for you! Just ask our volunteers who have been giving of their time and talents for more than 20 years.
Helping Hands is not just a place to give your time its a family, a group of people with different talents, strengths and reasons for volunteering but we do all share one goal. Our goal is to help make life better for everyone in Benton County who need our help. Helping Hands was founded by volunteers and we would not be the company we are today without them.
