For students whose families cannot afford school supplies, entering the classroom unprepared can create social and emotional challenges, in addition to putting kids at a disadvantage for learning. Often times, teachers try to fill this school-supply gap from their own pockets. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 93% of public school teachers spend their own money on school supplies without reimbursement.
Together, we can support both students and teachers, and make a huge difference by donating school supplies! All supplies go towards supporting Samaritan Community Center's, BackPacks for Kids program that is designed to give students the tools they need to succeed in school. That way, they can focus on learning, having fun, and pursuing new interests. It's hard to explore when you're stuck wondering how to get by.
Join Us For A School Supply Drive at Chick-fil-A!
Samaritan Community Center, Chick-fil-A, and 90.9 KLRC invite you to be a part of donating school supplies for kids in need in our community! This is SCC's biggest back-to-school event to-date and an exciting opportunity to directly invest in the lives of 4,000 at-risk children by giving them a Fresh Start with the tools they need to succeed at school. Simply pull up and pop the trunk, and we'll help unload your donated items.
