Today, we called Mike and Kim to tell them about the overwhelming love and support the KLRC listening family and Sam's Furniture were showering on them!
If you missed it, you can listen to our conversation here:
In case you missed Mike and Kim's story, here it is in their friend Angie's words:
I work with Mike. Mike and Kim are my idea of the perfect couple. Mike is a veteran who has served his country for many years, and even enlisted back in the National Guard a few years back and went back to Afghanistan in his 50's. Kim is former collegiate swimmer. She taught at a private school in Fayetteville before her cancer battle, and even through this past summer taught numerous kids to swim at The Swim Ranch in Fayetteville.
Kim was diagnosed with ovarian cancer about 5 years ago. Just a week before Thanksgiving, on a trip to the Cancer Treatment Center in Chicago, Kim was told her cancer had spread and that they had exhausted all treatment options. As no good time table was given, and this might be her last Christmas. They drove, along with their newly married daughter Hannah, to Fort Benning in Georgia where their son Max is stationed to be together for Thanksgiving and to tell him the news.
I have heard Mike tell numerous stories of this family's love for Christmas and have seen their faith and strength first hand. Their family has a family tradition of driving through neighborhoods and looking for the most perfectly decorated house. Once they had voted, they would leave a gift basket on the doorstep telling the homeowner they had been voted the "Best House by the Brinson's."
I would love them to receive a memorable Christmas. Anything that could allow them to build memories that will last. I truly wish I could give them more time, but since we can't I would love to show them just how much their strength and faith have left a lasting impact on me and many more!
Thanks for helping make Angie's wish come true! Stay tuned for Christmas Wish #3, which will be revealed on Friday during The KLRC Morning Show!
