Mission: Uniting communities to support children and families in crisis
We began in 2017 in Sebastian County in partnership with the state, with a goal to launch a team in every county across Arkansas over five years. Most recently, we launched our Northwest Arkansas team in March 2025. We collaborate with local churches and businesses to meet tangible needs for families, helping to reduce the number of children entering foster care due to poverty.
The Arkansas Family Alliance (AFA) exists to provide upstream, proactive assistance to families and children in crisis, addressing the root causes of poverty, instability, and family separation before they escalate into more severe societal challenges. Through our partnership with CarePortal, a platform for community engagement, AFA mobilizes individuals, organizations, and resources to meet tangible needs, fostering a culture of prevention and empowerment. Through this collaborative approach, we are significantly reducing the financial and social burden on taxpayers, the state, and the community by preventing crises that often lead to foster care placement, homelessness, incarceration, and reliance on state-funded programs.
Churches can partner with us as responding churches, helping deliver needed items and personally connect with families in crisis. This creates not only an opportunity to meet immediate needs, but also to provide ongoing, wrap-around support for the family.
Individuals and businesses can become Community Champions by donating funds or tangible items, which partnering churches then use to meet the real, practical needs of families.
