Mission: Compassion NWA is a non-profit organization committed to creating locally sourced opportunities to give, serve, and engage a community in need while building a sustainable grace driven organization that offers hope to the hurting.
About: Compassion NWA was established by Cross Church in 2011 with the intent to serve the less fortunate in the region in various ways. Services offered in the beginning ranged from English as a second language and computer skills, to food bags and help with rent, utilities, and clothing. However, in 2014 under new leadership, Compassion NWA began to focus on what was clearly the regions most glaring issue, food insecurity. In 2015 Compassion NWA received its own 501c3 designation and Feed the 479 was birthed. Today Feed the 479 is a full service choice pantry that allows clients to choose the food items they desire from a range of fresh foods including produce, dairy, meats & poultry, and dry goods. This decision has helped cut down on waste, fight obesity among the poor, and restore dignity to the client. The Feed the 479 pantry since moving to this focus has been able to increase clients served from 5,400 in 2014 to 50,000 in 2019. Cross Church and Compassion NWA continue to improve so we can serve our neighbors more effectively with love and truth in a compassionate way.
Services: Compassion NWA through the Feed the 479 pantry offer a variety of services which include the following. A full service choice pantry and a USDA option, fuel vouchers, utility assistance with an appointment, and clothing vouchers.
