Mission: Project Zero's mission is to raise awareness about adoption through the Arkansas state foster care system with the ultimate goal of finding a forever family for every child that is waiting. 1 + 1 = 0 (One child plus one family equals zero kids waiting!)
About: Project Zero NWA started as a group of passionate people wanting to help bring awareness to our area about kids needing forever families. PZ is a ramped up version of our coalition with the renewed goal of deliberately and purposefully pursuing out-of-the-box ways to find forever families for the kids in our county and state who are waiting.
Services: Project Zero works to reach our goal three ways:
1) Raising awareness about the need for adoptive families through our Arkansas statewide Heart Gallery- a collection of professional photographs of waiting kids that moves from place to place highlighting the need (these photos are taken by over 40 professional photographers around the state). We also have a product line that we sell to promote the message as well as raise funds.
2) Building hope in and relationships with waiting kids through monthly events, 2 large annual events and our mentoring program that matches a mentor with an individual child.
3) Help to connect waiting kids with waiting families- we work very closely with DCFS to connect families with waiting kids as well as a lot of one on one to encourage waiting families.
How can people get involved (volunteer opportunities)?
We have several volunteer opportunities! The main one is to volunteer at one of our monthly events, to meet and encourage waiting kids. Becoming a mentor is another opportunity (although our mentoring program is only in central AR right now).
