Christy and her husband Nathan have had a long career in music, leading worship in the late 90’s for over 3,000 young people at Metro Bible Study in Houston and then signing with Michael W. Smith’s record label, Rocketown Records, and releasing five albums as the duo, Watermark. Nathan and Christy would also join the Passion movement in 1997 as featured worship artists and Christy would sign with sixstepsrecords, releasing three solo albums.
As their Passion journey came to a close, the Nockels family of five felt called to return to Tennessee, the place that has always felt most like home. Christy’s podcast, The Glorious in the Mundane, has exceeded her expectations since its beginning in 2016. It has grown in listeners but also in Christy’s heart as a place where she’s learning to use her voice beyond just singing. She has developed a love for writing even beyond music and her book, The Life You Long For, represents a labor of love stretching her past her musical borders.
Christy and Nathan and their children, Noah, Elliana, and Annie Rose still live in Franklin, Tennessee. They affectionately call their homestead (as well as their independent record label) “Keeper’s Branch”, a play on their street name but also to echo promises found in Psalm 121: “The Lord is your keeper…He will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:5, 8) Their hope is that their home will be a sanctuary and a place of rest and creativity for their family, as well as all who enter in.
