If I were a silent voice inside your head helping you to build healthy relationships, you might hear me say: "Meet people where they are."
Don’t try to "change them," "fix them," or "correct them," but instead recognize where they are at that very moment. Meet them in their deepest pain and in their hardest struggle.
When words simply will not form in your mouth, then just acknowledge, "I don’t know what to say to you right now, but what I do know is that I want to be here for you." When you are able to say that to another human being, they immediately feel connected to you, understood by you, and they don’t feel alone anymore. That feels like a warm blanket on a cold rainy night.
In actuality, anything that is truly good comes straight from God and His Word. Let’s look at scripture and hear God’s version of, "Meet people where they are." Roman’s 12:15 says, "Weep with those who weep, rejoice with those who rejoice." God’s Word always says it best!
