Sharathon 2012: Four Ways to Get Involved

Sharathon 2012 is right around the corner! As a listener supported radio station, 101.1 KLRC relies on people like you to keep us on-the-air and serving the NWA community. That's why we're asking you to get involved and help us make this year's Sharathon a huge success!

First off...what is Sharathon?  Sharathon is our annual fundraising event.  The vast majority of our operating budget comes from donations from generous listeners.  Each spring, we spend a few days raising that support during Sharathon.  This event is incredibly important to us, because raising enough funding during Sharathon is how we keep the lights on and the music playing for the rest of the year.

What many people might not realize is how much work goes into Sharathon before the event even begins!  To ensure this year's Sharathon is successful, we're asking you to get involved in whatever ways you can!  We've laid out four basic needs that we have below.

Check out each category, and see which ones might be a great fit for you -- who knows, maybe you can even help out in all four areas!

Sharing is pretty important to Sharathon 2012.  After all, that's what the event is named after!  This year in particular, there are several very specific ways that you can contribute to Sharathon through sharing.

First off, we want you to share your stories with us, because stories are powerful things!  We want to tell our listeners about the impact the station is making.  Second, we want to be able to share with you through e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, and on-the-air.  Finally, we want you to be able to share KLRC with your friends and neighbors.

Ready to share?

Here at KLRC, we believe in the power of prayer.  Even more, we're well aware that we don't have the ability or the manpower to pull off an event like Sharathon through human means alone.

We want to absolutely cover Sharathon 2012 in prayer, and what better way to do that than through our amazing listeners?  We have two excellent ways for you to pray for KLRC during Sharathon 2012.  You can serve on our Prayer eTeam and get regular prayer updates before and during the event -- right in your e-mail inbox!  We're also looking for some dedicated prayer warriors who would come to pray on-site at the KLRC studios during Sharathon itself.  Our goal is to have at least one person praying during every hour!

Each year, Sharathon is made possible by a group of volunteers willing to answer phones, record pledges, enter data, coordinate meals, greet people, train other volunteers, and more!

If you're interested in serving during Sharathon 2012, we'd love to have you! Volunteer sign-ups are done in two-hour shifts, starting at 6am and ending at 6pm each day (6am-9am on Friday).  Breakfast and lunch will be provided if you sign up to work during meal times.

Sharathon is a fundraising event, and the donations that come in for the event help us do what we do all year long.  We simply couldn't afford to run a radio station without the generous gifts of listeners like yourself.  \

A little known fact about Sharathon is that we raise a large portion of our overall funding before the on-air portion of the event even begins!  This year, in order to be fully funded by the end of the event, we need to have 50% of our goal raised before the first on-air day of Sharathon.

That means pre-Sharathon gifts are incredibly important to our success.  When you give during Pre-Sharathon, you help us start strong.  You encourage others to give.  Most importantly, you help us share hope.
